There were many marriage proposals (and acceptances) during the holidays and now these couples are laying the ground work for their big day.

Life is a roller coaster ride; with many ups and downs, giggles and screams, but mostly fun. This is the time of your life together when the real ride begins. Enjoy it all — the highs, the lows, the anticipations, holding on to each other when your car hits the top of that hill and careens down it.

What else is there to say about the Holidays. We are all either looking for that special gift for that special person in our lives, or we are looking for an easy way to finish our holiday shopping.

This and That ….
A couple of things have arrived this week that I wanted to share with you. Last week my Self Representing Artist was Mary Ann Baskoff of Wrapsody & Ink. I thought I had better put my money where my mouth was and actually order one of her items to see what it was like up close and personal. It’s so hard to judge the quality of something just looking at photos. I was absolutely blown away when it arrived. It was much bigger than I expected, loaded with flowers, feathers, organza, satin and bling! Exceptional in quality and style and I cannot recommend highly enough for that very special ocassion. The Oxford English Dictionary defines art as “the products of human creativity”. Mary Ann Baskoff of Wrapsody & Ink uses her creative imagination to produce the most spectacular artistic gift boxes I have ever seen. The hard part would be to choose a gift worthy of the box!

Ranging from just $5 in her etsy shop, these little beauties are keepers.

Mary Ann has thought of everything and has a great collection of boxes suitable for men’s gifts and also wine boxes ….

It’s not difficult to imagine these boxes, once devoid of gift, becoming a family treasure chest. A place to keep those special keepsake items, baby’s first photo, the little birth identity bracelet, those special jewels or love letters ….

Aside from all this talent, Mary Ann is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet online. Humble about her success she says her inspiration came from an office supply store, “I kept trying to figure out how to get a beautifully wrapped box to the public; then, standing in an office supply store, I looked up and saw velcro – click – that was my beginning”….

My only problem would be that if I bought one of these boxes, I’m afraid it would have to be a gift to myself. I wouldn’t want to give it away!

Summertime

I am addressing this letter to those event planners who are following me on Facebook and Tweeteer.

An event planner requested me to create a wedding cake box designed to house wedding gift cards that the bride and groom will receive during their reception. Her request included that I match the wedding cake that the couple’s pastry chef had created specifically for said couple’s wedding at Oheka Castle (see picture above).

My boxes are hollowed out in the center and decorated to specifications. The tiers were then stacked as a cake would be with one exception — between the folds of the ribbon topper is a slit large enough for any size envelope to be placed in. As with all my boxes, this box opens from the bottom but it is “locked” with a velcro snap. It is quite sturdy because it is made with strong boxes that are professionally finished on the inside as well as the glamorous (or simple) finished product.

The event planner bought it to “lend” to her bride and groom for their wedding at Oheka Castle. The couple was thrilled with the look, and probably a bit relieved that they didn’t have to take it home with them.

I thought I would pass this idea along to you.

Please call me if you decide to make a small investment (around $200) to offer this over-the-top solution to a bride and groom on their wedding day for a small rental fee. There isn’t a challenge or a design I couldn’t recreate.
